Processing of Manuscripts
Acknowledgment is made of the receipt of all manuscripts. The Journal employs a reviewing procedure in which all manuscripts are sent to at least two referees for review. The referees determine a paper’s relevance to library and information science education, its contribution to knowledge, if it shows the development of new ideas, and its appeal to the readership of the Journal. When the referees reply, an anonymous summary of their comments is sent to the author with the editors’ decision as to the acceptability of the manuscript. Manuscripts are often returned to authors for revision on the recommendation of the referees, or are revised by the editorial staff to enhance their readability. Authors receive galley proofs of their articles for corrections. Authors will receive three complimentary copies of issues in which their articles appear. If a manuscript is rejected, the authors will be notified.
Guest Edited Issues
The Editors invite inquiries from individuals interested in guest-editing a special issue devoted to a single topic. All major articles for a guest-edited issue also go through the double-blind review process. Proposals for guest-edited special issues should be sent to the Editors at jeliseditors@gmail.com.
Indexing
The Journal of Education for Library and Information Science is indexed and/or abstracted in Current Contents, Current Index to Journals in Education, Education Index, Education Abstracts, Information Science Abstracts, Library and Information Science Abstracts, Library Literature (full text beginning with Vol. 44, No. 3/4), Social Science Citation Index, and Research into Higher Education Abstracts. Back issues, including those published under the earlier title, Journal of Education for Librarianship, are available in digital full text in JSTOR (http://www.jstor.org). Currently the years 1960-2006 are available.
Timeframe
The typical time from submission to publication is approximately one year, but may vary depending upon the quality of the manuscript, adherence to the guidelines, and the availability of reviewers.
